Is your “personal narrative” helping you or hurting you. You do have a “personal narrative” whether you realize it or not. The book we “Redirect” to this week will appeal to writers, changers and those that have a hankering for keeping journals. It will appeal greatly to those that thrive on change and most probably irritate and scare those that recoil from change. Regardless, the last few years and the next few will all be about change. You will be affected. Will you adapt or resist? Merely survive or thrive? Wilson has strategies that are worth consideration.
The news from this past week revealed that the unemployment numbers are NOT likely to change to below 6% until 2016. This lack of change will cause serious change ramifications for many. It will also likely cause a loud cry for change. Wilson has little optimism that the traditional books in the personal development section will help your game and (I feel) far too much confidence that his ideas will make a difference, still- much food for thought and discussion.
Construction ahead, Wilson gives you power-suggestions to dodge the orange barrels and traffic cones in your life. Much thanks to bookseller, Nancy E. for suggesting this title.
- What is your “personal narrative?”
- Constant Change- Invigoration or irritation?
- The fork in the road has many sharp tines! Which one?
- Is “back” an option?
- Who has the map?
- Does your “story need editing?”
- What is your strategy for handling change and does it need change?
- Why don’t “positive thoughts” always equate with “positive behavior or changes?”
- How can we “evolve and solve?”
“There are few academics who write with as much grace and wisdom as Timothy Wilson. Redirect is a masterpiece.” —Malcolm Gladwell
