A Review and Open Discussion on the Book:
Networking for People Who Hate Networking: A Field Guide for Introverts, the Overwhelmed, and the Underconnected
The book written by Devora Zack
11.02.10 7 P.M.
Do you hate networking? Are you getting a bit tired of your current networking gigs and the results leaving you lackluster? Bored hearing people tell you that “networking will lead to your next job, customer or success?” Do you secretly envy the extrovert who moves so easily through an ocean of bodies reeling in a seemingly endless stream of meaningful connections? Tuesday evening we will look at a great little book by Devora Zack, an accomplished networker on the extreme introvert side of the dial.
Zack nurtures one to bolster their existing networking structures and to explore new venues in a highly effective way. Extroverts and Centroverts will also benefit from her wisdom as well as much of the information enlightens us on what makes each other tick and be ticked off. Playing to your own personality leanings Zack helps one develop a powerful personal style that plays out in a genuine and results oriented way. Ms. Zack busts many myths in her book and gives hope to those that would rather “get a root canal than schmooze with a bunch of strangers. “
We will also touch very lightly on The Introvert Advantage by Marti Laney and the Highly Sensitive Person by Elaine N. Aron, Ph.D. time allowing.
You leave something of yourself at every meeting with another person.” – Fred Rogers
